Height Snowman Snowwoman USA Snow Olympia Record

Since last February 29th, something of tremendous relevance for humanity and for Americans has been standing in Bethel, Maine: the world's largest snowman, actually, snowwoman ever created, called Olympia Snowe. The massive creature, slightly smaller than the Statue of Liberty, is 37 metres tall, 9 metres taller than the previous record-holder, a snowman called Angus, built in 1999 by the same team of people.

The resources needed for such a large project were immense. For the lips, five red-painted tires were used, while eighteen skis were used for the eyelashes; for the arms two huge pinetrees were used, as well as several square feet of red fabric that cover the hat, nose and neck of the sculpture. Also, a crane was permanently on duty during the construction, piling the snow into a circular pile, while dozens of voluteers armed with shovels modelled the final shape of Olympia Snowe.
