Mazakii

Zhang Jing, better known as Mazakii, is 22 years old, was born in China and is a finalist student in fashion design. She is also an illustrator, a graphic designer, a writer, a translater of various languages, among other skills. Her dream is to substitute, in a few years, Karl Lagerfield at Coco Chanel. At least that what she says in her site...

Modesty aside, Mazakii's work is actually interesting. Her graphics are a bit baroque and affected, but it's quite different from what we are used to seeing here. Her illustrations have a strong oriental feel to them, reminding us of traditional Japanese prints to which an intense colour is added. None of her work renounces her cultural background.

And Mazakii, or Zhang Jing, is only 22 years old, let us not forget. She's not an exception, I'm sure. Like her, numerous other young people from China are extremely ready, ambitious and determined to conquer the world.
