Don Hong-Oai

Chinese Don Hong-Oai is not very familiar to us. Only when he impacted the United States in the decade of the 90´s, and began to expose himself did he acquire notoriety. It´s not difficult, for that matter, to dazzle us with this artist´s work. It´s harder for us to accept that we are dealing with photographs, since they strongly resemble traditional stamps. Curiously there is no digital process involved in his work. The truth the photographs by Hong-Oai are obtained with a dark camera through the composition of diverse negative juxtaposes so that they form a harmonious landscape, yet they are entirely artificial.
