The idea was born in the mind of a Mexican man called Luis Javier Laresgoiti as he observed his daughter playing businesswoman with a telephone, he says. With the support of several companies in the technological area, where Motorola stands out, a children's playground was conceived intended for children in the ages of 8 to 12 - a fundamental stage in the discovery of vocations and in the election of their future professional activities. Inside M-Lab they are invited to play and interpret a career of technological or scientific aspect and see how far they can go.
M-Lab is located in Wannado City, in Sawgrass Mills Mall, in the state of Florida. Here the demands are high and innovation and invention are the words of order. At the entrance every child wears a white robe, transforming himself in that manner in a M-Ventor. After that it is necessary for him to solve a problem of reasonable difficulty with equipments of high technology as resources. Group work is highly motivated.
None of this would be completely new if it weren't for the installations of M-Lab, conceived as a real scenario from SC film (science fiction). The architecture is truly, distinguishing: 7 working centers in hexagonal shape, lined with steel and aluminum, strategically illuminated intertwined for corridors which are divided by doors, that strongly remind us of 2001: a Space Odyssey, from Stanly Kubrick. It would be an excuse to say that such an environment contributes decisively for the motivation and fantasy of its users...
