Troy Paiva is a photographer like few. Living in San Francisco, for years he wandered the streets at night, like a real urban explorer. During the 1980s, while attending photography classes, he fell in love with the "painting with light" technique. Extended exposure time, coloured gelatine, flash, natural light, alas, every technique that will guarantee fantastic results, with colours and spectacular revelations.
Thus he started gathering all his city and desolate places explorer know-how with the endless possibilities that the night's darkness and his photography technique could give him and, in 1998, he created the lost in america. For almost 10 years he has been publishing pictures of incredible objects and abandoned places, long forgotten by time. The book "Lost in America" was released in 2003, with 145 pages filled with colourful photographs. A genius vision of a lonely photographer, who is able to make extremely moving records from loneliness and decadence.
